Currency
and Credit Card
The Austrian currency is the EURO (€). Most hotels, restaurants
and shops accept internationally valid credit cards.
Bank
Monday to Friday: 08:30 – 12:30 and 13:30 – 15:00.
Closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Shopping
Shops are generally open from 9:00 – 18:00 on weekdays
and from 9:00 – 13:00 on Saturdays. Several larger shops
and shopping centres are open until 19:00, some on Thursday
until 20:00/21:00 and until 17:00/18:00 on Saturday. Shops
remain closed on Sundays.
Passports
and Visa
Check passport and visa requirements in due time before you
leave. Generally, citizens of European Union member states,
of candidate states for accession to the EU, of most states
of North and South America and of a few other states require
a valid passport for entry into Austria. Please contact the
Austrian Consulate in your country for detailed information
and note that in various countries the procedure for visa
application can take months. Therefore, an early application
is recommended.
Public
Transport
Vienna offers an extensive travel network by underground,
tram and bus. Tickets are sold from dispensers, ticket counters
or in tobacco kiosks.
Climate
The weather in September/October is normally approximately
15° - 20°C by day and cooler at night.
Electricity
The main voltage in Austria is 220 V AC.
