How to Reserve a Room
Attendees arrange their own hotel accommodations. A block of rooms at the Intercontinental Wien has been reserved at a discounted nightly rate of €205* (this rate already includes the hotel tax and city tax) single/double occupancy. To guarantee this rate, please call the hotel directly at +43 (1) 711 22-62, mentioning “Money Laundering Conference.”

* The reservation cut-off date for discounted room rates is Monday, August 23, 2004. Reservations made after that date are not guaranteed the discounted rate and are subject to availability. The Intercontinental will extend the discounted rate through Sunday, October 3rd for attendees who wish to stay the weekend (subject to availability).

Hotel check-in time is 14:00 hrs; checkout time is 12:00 hrs. All guests arriving before 14:00 hrs will be accommodated as rooms become available. Our bell staff can arrange to check baggage for those arriving early when rooms are unavailable and for guest attending functions on departure day.

 
Transportation Information

Arrival at the Airport
Vienna International Airport is located in Schwechat about 19 km southeast of Vienna.

Transportation from Airport to Hotel:

  • By Bus: Public transport to the city centre is provided by frequent bus connections (Vienna Airport Services) to the Western railway station (Westbahnhof) and the Southern railway station (Südbahnhof). Buses to the railway stations leave the airport outside the arrival building, every 30 minutes. Traveling time is about 20 to 35 minutes, the fare is € 6,- per person one-way.
  • By Train: City Airport Train (CAT) to the "Wien Mitte” (city center) railway station, departs from the airport approximately every 30 minutes. Traveling time is about 15 to 20 minutes, the fare is € 9,- per person one-way.
  • By Shuttle: A transfer to your hotel by shuttle can be ordered in the airport arrival hall.
  • By Taxi: A taxi from the airport to the city centre costs approximately € 35, - one-way

Currency and Credit Card
The Austrian currency is the EURO (€). Most hotels, restaurants and shops accept internationally valid credit cards.

Bank
Monday to Friday: 08:30 – 12:30 and 13:30 – 15:00. Closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Shopping
Shops are generally open from 9:00 – 18:00 on weekdays and from 9:00 – 13:00 on Saturdays. Several larger shops and shopping centres are open until 19:00, some on Thursday until 20:00/21:00 and until 17:00/18:00 on Saturday. Shops remain closed on Sundays.

Passports and Visa
Check passport and visa requirements in due time before you leave. Generally, citizens of European Union member states, of candidate states for accession to the EU, of most states of North and South America and of a few other states require a valid passport for entry into Austria. Please contact the Austrian Consulate in your country for detailed information and note that in various countries the procedure for visa application can take months. Therefore, an early application is recommended.

Public Transport
Vienna offers an extensive travel network by underground, tram and bus. Tickets are sold from dispensers, ticket counters or in tobacco kiosks.

Climate
The weather in September/October is normally approximately 15° - 20°C by day and cooler at night.

Electricity
The main voltage in Austria is 220 V AC.
