Senate Committee Approves Bill to Blacklist Corrupt Officials Worldwide

A U.S. Senate committee on Wednesday unanimously approved a measure that would empower the White House to blacklist corrupt foreign officials and individuals responsible for human rights abuses worldwide. The Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act would also require the executive branch to respond to proposals on designations by any of the chairpersons and ranking members of four congressional committees-two in the Senate, two in the House of Representatives.
