US Lawmakers Scrutinize Foreign Funding Behind Corporate Takeovers: Sources

A U.S. government committee tasked with reviewing potential national security threats is increasingly questioning the source of funds behind proposed foreign takeovers of U.S. companies within the last year, attorneys involved in recent negotiations said. The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, or CFIUS, which is chaired by the U.S. Treasury Department and includes representatives from the justice and defense departments, deliberates confidentially and has a fairly flexible mandate to determine security risks.
