First Friday CD-ROM - Informal Value Transfers: Black Market Peso Exchanges, Hawala and Trade Price

Informal Value Transfers: Black Market Peso Exchanges, Hawala and Trade Price Manipulation (CD-ROM)

Informal value transfer systems are centuries-old but now serve as valuable conduits for criminal proceeds and terrorist funds. They pose a challenge to financial institutions and businesses and to enforcement agents following a money trail. Many of the methods are not illegal, but can be used for illegal purposes. Experts will teach you how to detect and prevent dirty money from entering your institution through these informal means.

Speakers:

Michael McDonald, CAMS
Former special agent and group manager with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigation Division, McDonald is a leading national expert on the Bank Secrecy Act and money laundering. He conducted or supervised many landmark money laundering probes, and has provided training for numerous U.S. federal and state agencies and for officials of more than 40 countries. He is the president of Michael McDonald and Associates and a member of the ACAMS advisory board.

Kenneth L. Bryant
Mr. Bryant has more than fifteen years senior management experience both in the United States and overseas as a money laundering investigator, compliance officer, money laundering reporting officer, enforcement regulator and a counter terrorist and counter narcotics consultant. He has been awarded a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice, summa cum laude, and holds seven board certifications covering the areas of risk management, financial due diligence, financial operations, regulatory compliance, and anti-money laundering. Mr. Bryant is in private practice where he operates a global asset protection and risk mitigation consultancy. He advises governments, international bodies, regulatory agencies, and financial institutions on a global basis.
