Biden’s Freeze on New Regulations Impacts Several AML Proposals

The White House has instructed senior officials across the executive branch to abandon or postpone regulatory changes that former President Donald Trump initiated in the final weeks of his term, including a handful of proposals impacting anti-money laundering compliance. No new rulemaking should be pitched or issued "until a department or agency leader" selected by President Joe Biden, or the deputies to whom they delegate their authority, have had a chance to review and approve the proposal, Ronald Klain, the White House chief of staff, wrote in a memorandum Wednesday.
