Following US Charges, British Court Approves Payment Platform Ban

A U.K. judge has backed the Financial Conduct Authority's imposition of an operating ban last year on Nvayo, an electronic money institution, or EMI, in London, whose owner faces trial in the U.S. after allegedly transmitting millions of dollars without a license. Nvayo's owner, Christopher James Scanlon, a 44-year-old U.S. national who previously lived in London, was arrested in Miami International Airport in May 2023 and charged with using a network of legal entities to help several individuals, including criminal suspects, make and conceal five- and six-figure payments from 2015 to 2019.
