International Watchdog May Issue Guidelines on Trade-Based Money Laundering

The Financial Action Task Force, the global anti-money laundering watchdog, may issue a formal recommendation on standards to minimize the use of international trade to help launder money and finance terrorism, a person familiar with the organization says. FATF, which has issued 40 recommendations for combating money laundering and nine measures for stopping terrorist financing, is scheduled to discuss trade-based money laundering during its annual meeting October 8-12 in Paris.
