Last-Minute Revisions Stall 5AMLD Negotiations in Europe

Plans to revise the European Union's anti-money laundering rules stalled Tuesday after member states proposed new amendments to their negotiating position last week, an official told ACAMS moneylaundering.com. The latest round of "trilogue" negotiations between the European Commission, Council and Parliament for the Fifth Anti-Money Laundering Directive, or 5AMLD, which began in March, have reached a deadlock, with EU lawmakers accusing national governments of being unwilling to undertake "serious negotiations" to reach an agreement.
