Latest U.N. Sanctions Target Companies, Bank Tied to Iran’s Nuclear Effort

Additional banking and trade restrictions that target the finance and supply of Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programs were passed by the U.N. Security Council Wednesday. The 15-member council voted 12 -2 in favor of blacklisting 22 new companies and entities, including one Malaysian bank, for their alleged ties to Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile program. The resolution, the fourth such package of sanctions passed since December 2006, also blacklisted the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and 18 companies controlled or acting on behalf of the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps.
