Looming Government Shutdown Would Reduce FinCEN’s Staff

A possible government shutdown slated for Saturday would force the U.S. agency in charge of collecting and maintaining Bank Secrecy Act data to operate with reduced staff, a government official said Thursday. Should Congress and the White House fail to agree on a budget by Friday, the U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) would "maintain essential services for stakeholders to the best of our ability," said Bill Grassano, a spokesman for the bureau.
