Manhattan DA’s SAR Review Team Has Spurred Dozens of Investigations: Official

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office has opened dozens of financial crime investigations since the 2010 formation an internal team that reviews suspicious activity reports, a New York official said Monday. In the little more than a year that the group has existed, the office has pored over approximately 1,600 of the reports, known as SARs, and launched 25 investigations with 25 more "in the pipeline," said Adam Kaufmann, chief of the investigation division for the New York office, at compliance conference in South Florida. The team is not just looking for data on active cases, but doing "targeted keyword searches"...
