Most Banks Unprepared for Upcoming Clearing House Deadline, Say Consultants

Most U.S. financial institutions are not prepared to comply with anti-money laundering requirements on automated clearing house transactions set to take effect in less than a year, say consultants. In July, Herndon, Virginia-based National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) said that it was requiring financial institutions to identify automated clearing house (ACH) transactions involving offices of a financial agency outside of the United States. Additionally, banks must record transaction originators and beneficiaries, the association said.
