Roundup: Ireland Fines UBS Insurance Arm, Mexico Detains Sinaloa Money Launderer, and More

The Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) fined Dublin-based UBS International Life Limited 65,000 euros Thursday for violating anti-money (AML) laundering laws. CBI cited failures to train employees and directors and inadequate written procedures for detecting and reporting suspicious transactions. The penalty is the first issued by the Central Bank against a regulated firm since the jurisdiction's revamped AML laws came into force July 2010.
