Sweden Censures Danske Bank for Risk Assessment Failures

Sweden's Financial Supervisory Authority on Wednesday ordered the local subsidiary of Danske Bank to address significant deficiencies in its understanding of the financial-crime risks it faces by June 2022 to avoid an enforcement action. In a 7-page letter, Karin Lundberg, the FSA's head of banking supervision, chastised Danske Bank's chief executive and chairman for allowing those shortcomings to persist for several years and rejected the Danish lender's proposal to eliminate the problems by March 2023, nearly three years after the Swedish regulator first identified them.
