U.S. Set to Ease Intelligence Sharing Rules among Law Enforcement

The Bush administration is set to finalize rules that could make it easier for state and local police to gather criminal evidence on suspected terrorists and share sensitive data with U.S. federal investigators. The proposed changes, published July 31, are designed to update and formalize the procedures for local law enforcement when gathering evidence that could be tied to individuals suspected of supporting terrorism.
