UK Officials Launch New Task Force Against Economic Crime

Executives from Barclays, Lloyds Bank and Banco Santander on Monday joined a new government task force for clamping down on a range of financial crimes in the United Kingdom. The U.K. Economic Crime Strategic Board, which also comprises officials from the National Crime Agency, or NCA, and trade groups representing financial institutions, will meet twice annually to "set priorities, direct resources and scrutinize performance" against "serious and organized crime," British authorities said in a statement.
