US Lawmakers Propose Broad AML Overhaul

A pair of U.S. lawmakers introduced legislation that aims to streamline anti-money laundering reporting obligations for financial institutions, and increase their ability to exchange data throughout their global operations and with one another. Among other revisions to U.S. compliance rules, the $10,000 and $5,000 thresholds at which financial institutions must report large cash transactions and suspicious activity respectively would be adjusted for inflation under the measures pitched Monday by Reps.
