US Lawmakers Propose to Expand Real Estate GTOs to Cover Wire Transfers

Federal lawmakers reintroduced legislation Wednesday that would expand enhanced reporting requirements for firms involved in the purchase of high-end residential properties in New York, Miami and a handful of other U.S. cities. The bill proposed by Reps. Stephen Lynch (D-MA) and Peter King (R-NY) would authorize the U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FinCEN, to require that title insurance firms obtain and disclose the identities of individuals who own at least 25 percent of any legal entity acquiring luxury real estate in the cities, regardless of their means of payment.
