White House Begins Promised Roll Back of Cuba Sanctions Relief

The White House on Friday disclosed plans to blacklist dozens of businesses in Cuba and expand existing sanctions against the Cuban government in what some have called the first step of a broader strategy to renew a U.S. embargo against the country. As part of the plan, which halts the Obama administration's policy of dismantling U.S. restrictions against the island, the State, Treasury and Commerce departments have been instructed to issue and enforce new prohibitions against U.S. transactions with hotels, tour operations and other entities believed controlled by the Cuban military, intelligence and security services.
