With Search Engine Complete, FinCEN’s Database Overhaul Passes Halfway Mark

A $120 million upgrade to the U.S. Treasury Department's database of Bank Secrecy Act reports is roughly 50 percent complete, after the bureau overseeing the project finished work on its new search engine. On Monday, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) announced the completion of the search function, dubbed "FinCEN Query," which allows investigators to better search the data fields and suspicious activity report (SAR) narratives filed by anti-money laundering (AML) officers. As of this week, law enforcement officials can save their queried criteria, import and crosscheck lists of data and search additional data recorded on Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)...
