Senate Bill Raises Bar for Legal Challenges from Foreign Drug Kingpins

U.S. lawmakers are considering legislation that would make it harder for individuals blacklisted as drug traffickers to successfully challenge their designations in court. If passed, the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Improvement Act would authorize U.S. officials to submit and federal judges to review classified information used to support sanctions determinations against overseas persons involved in the global drug trade without having to disclose the evidence to designees.
