Rolling Out New Effectiveness Score, FATF Gives Spain High Marks for Compliance

An intergovernmental watchdog group published its first national evaluation under a revised scoring system Friday, giving Spain high marks for its efforts to stop money launderers and terrorist financiers. In the first mutual evaluation to be published since revising its anti-money laundering and counterterrorist financing standards in February 2012, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) deemed Spain compliant or largely compliant with all but three of its 40 recommendations.
