New Leadership at Senate’s PSI Could Mean Measure of Relief for Banks

Lawmakers slated to take control of the U.S. Senate's Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations will likely bring more than individual agendas to the powerful investigative body. For banks, they may bring a reprieve. On Monday, a congressional source confirmed that Sens. Rob Portman (R-OH) and Claire McCaskill (D-MO) will serve as chair and ranking member, respectively. The appointments have yet to be announced although Logan Daily on Saturday reported Portman as the likely successor to now-retired Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI).
