House Committee Approves Bill to Report on Iranian Assets Abroad

UPDATE APPENDED: A Congressional committee on Thursday approved a measure that would require the U.S. Treasury Department to collect data on the assets of Iranian leaders held in the United States and abroad. In a 39-20 vote, the House Financial Services Committee elected to send the Iranian Leadership Asset Transparency Act to a floor vote despite White House opposition to the legislation, which is aimed at improving sanctions enforcement and countermeasures against money laundering.
