Terrorist Financing Convictions Increase In Britain Despite Prosecution Problems

Great Britain has recorded its highest annual total of convictions for terrorist-related offenses for eight years, driven in part by a sharp increase in prosecutions for jihadist fundraising activities, according to government figures released Thursday. Twelve people were put on trial over alleged terrorist fundraising in the year to March 2017, with all but two of them convicted. The total number of fundraising prosecutions-an increase from two from the previous year-played a key role in the United Kingdom's record 68 total terrorism-related convictions in 2016 and 2017.
