Judges Back UK Investigators in Asset Seizure Case

A judicial panel in London backed the U.K. National Crime Agency, or NCA, on Friday, blocking an attempt by the son of a former Moldovan prime minister to win back nearly £500,000 seized from him on suspicion of corruption. Vlad Luca Filat, 23, was ordered to hand over the funds from three HSBC accounts in February after the NCA succeeded in casting them as the proceeds of crime committed by his father, Vladimir Filat, who is serving nine years in prison in his home country for abuse of office and corruption for his role in the theft of $1 billion...
