Moneyval Praises Jersey for AML Reforms, Also Highlights Failings

Despite efforts in recent years to boost the effectiveness of its anti-money laundering regime, Jersey's use of financial intelligence, enforcement of AML rules and efforts to prosecute financial criminals require further improvement, an intergovernmental group said Wednesday. In a 344-page mutual evaluation report, Moneyval, the Financial Action Task Force's affiliate in Europe, commended the U.K. Crown Dependency for reaching comparatively high levels of beneficial ownership transparency, having a thorough understanding of the financial crime-related risks the island faces and cooperating effectively with international partners.
