Arizona Supreme Court Limits State’s Wire Freezes

Arizona's Supreme Court struck down a ruling Wednesday that would have allowed the attorney general to order freezes on wire transfers from 28 other states to locations in northern Mexico. The decision follows the September 2006 granting of a warrant allowing Arizona law enforcement agents to seize person-to-person wire transfers sent to 26 locations in Sonora, Mexico through Western Union branches in other states. The company successfully filed a motion that month to delay the implementation of the warrants.
