As National Security Issues Have Grown, So Has Little Known Treasury Agency

A U.S. Treasury Department agency created in 2004 to analyze financial data and formulate policy is becoming an increasingly important player in the government's fight against financial crime, say analysts. The department's Office of Intelligence and Analysis (OIA) collects and analyzes financial data on terrorism, weapons proliferation and national security issues.
