Britain Launches £15 Million Forfeiture Against Azeri Lawmaker’s Family

An Azerbaijani lawmaker who has publicly railed against corruption wired £15 million to relatives in Britain from 2012 to 2017 through a network of shell companies and Baltic bank accounts known as the "Azerbaijani Laundromat," U.K. officials said Tuesday. The National Crime Agency, or NCA, launched civil proceedings to permanently seize the funds from U.K. accounts held by the wife, son and nephew of Javanshir Feyziyev, a former businessman and member of Azerbaijan's Parliament, on the basis that the assets probably derived from graft and other crimes.
