Bush Administration Deadline Regulations Clouds Outlook for CTR Exemption Rule

A federal proposal to lighten Bank Secrecy Act filing requirements may fail to be enacted this year because of a Bush Administration deadline to finalize proposed regulations. The Bush Administration issued a directive to the heads of all the federal agencies on May 9 giving them until June 1 to issue new regulatory proposals and November 1 to issue any final regulations, according to a report Saturday in The New York Times.
