Cognizant Compliance Chief and CEO Arranged, Disguised $2 Million Bribe: Prosecutors

New Jersey federal prosecutors accused former senior employees of Cognizant Technology Solutions, a global software firm based in Teaneck, of directing a contractor to bribe government officials in India on their behalf and using false invoices to cloak the payment. Gordon Coburn and Steven Schwartz, the former chief executive and former chief legal officer respectively of Cognizant, a Fortune 500 firm, face charges of violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act as well as falsifying books and records for allegedly orchestrating the $2 million bribe.
