European Commissioner Promises Expanded Tax Havens Blacklist

The European Union's executive branch will draft a new, expanded blacklist of nations vulnerable to financial crime this year after lawmakers demanded more concerted action against high-profile tax havens, a senior official said Tuesday. A list of 11 nations twice rejected by parliamentarians since January will be "filled out" with additional, non-EU countries whose controls and cooperation against money laundering and other financial crimes are deemed lax by EU member states, Jean-Claude Juncker, the head of the European Commission said.
