Ex-FinCEN Director Fox Calls for List of Politically Exposed Persons

The federal government should issue a list of politically exposed persons (PEP) to help banks identify them, according to former Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) director William Fox. Fox, speaking Monday at an anti-money laundering conference in New York, called on banking regulators to share more information with the private sector. "It's time," said Fox, who stepped down as FinCEN director in February 2006 to take a job with Bank of America. In a speech before some 1,000 government officials and securities industry executives, Fox outlined things he'd like to see happen to help stem terrorist financing and financial crime....
