Former FinCEN Director Heads to D.C. Law Firm

A former director of the nation's financial intelligence unit will join the Washington, D.C. office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP as of counsel, the law firm said Monday. James Freis, who headed the U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), said in an interview that he will focus in part on potential "ring-fencing" in the U.K., Finland and the United States.
