France Earns FATF’s Highest Efficacy Scores to Date, Surpassing Britain

An intergovernmental group has given France the highest marks out of the 125 countries it has evaluated since 2014 under criteria measuring how effectively national laws and regulations against money laundering and other financial crimes work in practice. Following a five-week review that ended in July 2021, the Financial Action Task Force rated France's campaign and controls against money launderers, terrorist financiers and other financial criminals "high" in three of the group's 11 categories of effectiveness on Monday, "substantial" in six, and "moderate"—the second-lowest score—in two.
