Regulators Issue Guidance on Basel II Proposal

Federal banking regulators are seeking public comment on guidance intended to clarify the planned U.S. adoption of the so-called Basel II standards for capital requirements. Regulators on Thursday released three documents as companion guidance to a proposed rulemaking for the implementation of the international capital standards. The documents outline expectations for credit risk, operational risk, and a bank's capital adequacy assessment process, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) said in a statement.
