Small Business Advocates Call for CTA Delay

Business advocates called for a slower rollout of a U.S. corporate beneficial ownership registry during a congressional hearing on Tuesday, bolstering Republicans' case for delaying the keystone of the Corporate Transparency Act beyond its planned launch on Jan. 1, 2024. The U.S. Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network expects nearly 33 million legal entities to file ownership information to the registry in its first year, followed by 6 million new entities annually.
