US Actions Against ICC Stretch Sanctions Authority to Its Limits: Sources

The U.S. government's decision to blacklist the International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor and a second senior official risks antagonizing allies and weakening its own efforts against human rights abusers and other criminals, sources told ACAMS moneyaundering.com. The Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control on Wednesday designated Fatou Bom Bensouda, a Gambian lawyer who has led the ICC's office of the prosecutor since 2012, and Phakiso Mochochoko of Lesotho, who leads the court's jurisdiction, complementarity and cooperation division.
