US Pledges to End Myanmar Sanctions

President Obama on Wednesday ended U.S. sanctions against Cote d'Ivoire and promised to do the same for Myanmar in response to political reforms by the Asian country. The White House said its plan to end the 20-year national embargo of Myanmar, which would be administered via the issuance of a forthcoming executive order, follows the country's recent "progress on democratization and human rights" and pledge to strengthen its controls against money laundering and terrorist financing, among other reforms.
