Congressional leaders struck a deal Thursday to reauthorize several controversial powers of the Patriot Act though June 1, 2015, including a provision that allows investigators to seize "tangible" records from financial institutions and other companies during terrorism investigations, the New York Times reported. The deal follows negotiations between the Senate majority leader, Harry Reid (D-NV) and Republican leaders, including the Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, and John Boehner, the speaker of the House, the news agency said.
