U.S. Treasury Department Orders Iranian Guard Asset Freeze

The U.S. Treasury Department blacklisted four companies and one person tied to Iran's elite military branch Wednesday amid efforts to coalesce international support to restrict business with the Persian country. The department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) ordered financial institutions to freeze the assets of Rostam Qasemi, the head of the engineering division of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The sanctions also included Fater Engineering Institute, Imensazen Consultant Engineers Institute, Makin Institute and Rahab Institute, all subsidiaries of the engineering company.
