FATF Says Governments Aren’t Doing Enough to Combat Crime, Terrorism

Governments should ramp up their efforts to investigate and prosecute money launderers, including by providing additional powers and resources to local law enforcement, an international watchdog group said. The Paris-based Financial Action Task Force (FATF) made the call as part of its 75-page Global Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Threat Assessment, a collection of the organization's past guidance. The group addressed laundering via bearer instruments, value transfers, assets, gatekeepers and various jurisdictional laws.
