Congressional Leaders Call for Designating Venezuela a Terror Sponsor

U.S. lawmakers called on President Bush to designate Venezuela a state sponsor of terrorism, a step that could mean limited sanctions against the country. Nine Republican lawmakers introduced a resolution to the U.S. House of Representatives Friday calling on the Bush administration to sanction the country over its ties to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), a group that has been designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department since 2001.
