Depository Institutions on Track to File Record Number of SARs in 2007

Depository institutions are on track to file a record number of suspicious activity reports this year, according to data from the U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, but the rate of filings may be leveling off as the year comes to a close. As of September 30, depository institutions filed more than 423,000 suspicious activity reports (SARs) this year, FinCEN senior adviser Michael DeLuca said Sunday at a money laundering enforcement conference in Washington, D.C.
