House Lawmakers to Draft North Korea Sanctions Bill, Says Committee Chairman

U.S. lawmakers will introduce sanctions legislation targeting North Korea's use of criminal proceeds and third-country banks that finance its nuclear program, members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee said Tuesday. In a hearing, witnesses outlined potential punitive measures against the country in retaliation for its latest nuclear test, including steps that would restrict the government's access to hard currency and limit its access to financial institutions abroad through correspondent and other relationships.
