Puerto Rico’s Former Governor Acquitted of Corruption, Laundering: Report

A San Juan jury found a former Puerto Rican governor not guilty of corruption relating to the alleged misuse of more than $500,000 in campaign funds, according to news reports. Jurors said Friday that Anibal Acevedo Villa, governor of the commonwealth between 2004 and 2008, was not guilty of nine criminal counts purportedly pointing to a scheme to pay off more than $500,000 in campaign debt, according to a March 21 report by The New York Times.
