Plans to revise the European Union’s anti-money laundering rules stalled Tuesday after member states proposed new amendments to their negotiating position last week.
EU lawmakers seeking to strengthen the bloc's controls against financial crime beyond what is currently being considered will pitch more rigorous transparency requirements for trusts, virtual currencies, prepaid cards and bank and payment account holders.
The European Commission published its proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union that would amend Directive (EU) 2015/849 concerning anti-money laundering and counterterrorist financing.
