Lawmakers Quiz Treasury Official on State of Counterterrorist Financing

U.S. efforts to clamp down on terror financiers have been largely a success, a federal official told American lawmakers at a hearing in downtown Manhattan Tuesday. The sparsely attended hearing, led by a handful of Republican House members who questioned a single witness, touched on a gamut of issues that have been at the forefront of bank compliance since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
