U.K. Lawmakers to Quickly Bolster Sanctions Law After Supreme Court Ruling

U.K. lawmakers plan to quickly pass legislation to reverse a high court decision Wednesday that disallowed the freezing of funds belonging to suspected terrorist financiers under United Nations sanctions. Britain's Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that an order by Her Majesty's Treasury requiring financial institutions to block funds tied to suspected terrorists blacklisted by the U.N. Security Council was "too severe" and violated the human rights of designees because individuals were not allowed to challenge United Nations sanctions.
